Creative and colourful riso print illustration made by Ellis Tolsma of a comet with riso colours blue black yellow and pink

Riso print comet #4

Comet #4 is an A3 riso print with an abstract image of a 'celestial body' shooting through a night sky. An experiment with abstraction and the idea that all 'comets' are just a little bit different, but beautiful to see.

This limited edition print is made with 4 bright riso colours namely: aqua blue, yellow, black and neon pink. There are only 40 prints made in total and each print is a unique version.

For each print I use a Japanese printing technique called riso printing. This technique uses an environmentally friendly and rice-based ink which results in the fluorescent and cheerful hues that bring the prints to life. Because each color is a separate layer that goes through the riso printer, the layer sometimes shifts and each print has its own unique texture and character, making each print original and just a little bit different. It is a sustainable and unique way of printing
