This zine is called 'An ode to self' and is a tribute to who you are. I made it in the shape of a Victorian love token and sealed it with an old fashioned wax seal. It is meant to be opened and read in difficult times. There is a poem inside that can be read in different ways: one for the now and one for the future. I see it as a kind of little shrine to yourself. I made quite a few prototypes and it was a lot of work to get it perfect, but now I am really happy with it! I was inspired by old Victorian love letters and medieval tapestries. It would make a beautiful gift, for yourself or someone you love.
Ode To Self riso print zine
Voor elke print maak ik gebruik van een Japanse druktechniek genaamd riso printen. Deze techniek maakt gebruik van een milieuvriendelijke en op rijst gebaseerde inkt wat resulteert in de fluorescerende en vrolijke tinten die de afdrukken tot leven brengen. Omdat elke kleur een aparte laag is die door de riso printer gaat, verschuift de laag soms en heeft elke afdruk zijn eigen unieke textuur en karakter, waardoor elke print origineel en nét een beetje anders is. Het is een duurzame en unieke manier van printen
One of the characteristics of riso prints is that they never dry completely. They always remain a little 'wet', but fortunately they do not smudge unless you really rub over the print. So be careful when handling the riso prints. If the print does show smudges, you can remove the riso ink with an eraser.
