This riso print is an illustrated print of a frame by frame animation. The print was made by first designing an animation digitally. This animation was printed again with the riso printer and then scanned again. After scanning I re-animated the riso animation. This is the scanned print version of the animation! What a job it was! :)
This limited edition print is made with 3 bright riso colours: aqua blue, yellow and neon pink. The print is printed on 250 grams biotop paper of A3 size. In total only 15 prints were made and each print is a unique version due to the riso printing technique that is used.

Riso print abstract animation
For each print I use a Japanese printing technique called riso printing. This technique uses an environmentally friendly and rice-based ink which results in the fluorescent and cheerful hues that bring the prints to life. Because each color is a separate layer that goes through the riso printer, the layer sometimes shifts and each print has its own unique texture and character, making each print original and just a little bit different. It is a sustainable and unique way of printing
One of the characteristics of riso prints is that they never dry completely. They always remain a little 'wet', but fortunately they do not smudge unless you really rub over the print. So be careful when handling the riso prints. If the print does show smudges, you can remove the riso ink with an eraser.
