This print is part of a collection of illustrations depicting Dutch folklore. This ship is the three-masted vessel that appears in the story of the Woman of Stavoren. The ship sails out to find the most valuable thing in the world and returns to Friesland with grain. The patterns in the border are inspired by Frisian folk art. The print is printed using the colors aqua blue, yellow, and fluorescent pink, which together create colors such as sea blue, orange, and green!
Three-masted seagoing ship risograph print A3
Riso printing is a Japanese printing technique using eco-friendly, rice-based ink. Each color is printed as a separate layer, resulting in the characteristic cheerful and fluorescent hues and a light texture. Small shifts between the layers and variations in color per print are characteristic of riso and make every print unique.
