This is a fun and creative beginner-friendly riso print course based in Utrecht where you will design and riso print a zine. A fun way to express your creativity in a unique and narrative way. During this course you will make your own zine. A zine is a small book/mini magazine. The (maga)zine form is very suitable for a short story or an overarching theme. Your illustrations are central to this, but you will also learn how to deal with text and typography. If you have always had a poem, short story or even a book in mind, then this course is excellent to discover how this works as a book and to experiment with your own ideas. The focus in the four course days is on using analogue techniques, experimenting with different materials and storytelling. In addition to designing the zine, we will also dive into telling a story. We discuss different types of zines (leparello, binding, fold-out booklet), after which you ultimately choose your favorite to work with. This creative riso print course in Utrecht is the ideal way to relax and discover your artistic side. No preparation is needed, although you can always bring your own magazines, photos, illustrations and texts. We will work with markers, old magazines, collage and the scanner of the riso printer. No laptop or digital media needed (but you can!), just your creativity and enthusiasm! You will receive in total: • a print run of 5 copies of your self-made zine • 20 riso masters to experiment with • 100 90 g/r biotop paper sheets per lesson to experiment with • A riso zine with explanations to look back on and all color swatches for the riso printer • A lot of useful riso knowledge & guidance • Snacks, drinks & a lot of fun and connection with other creatives!
